Environmental protection

Environment protection is a constant issue in our operations, and we strive to make transportation environment-friendly. Our most important tasks are to reduce the smoke gas emissions of our vehicles by means of appropriate maintenance and the continuous modernisation of the fleet, and to minimise the environmental impact of operating our vehicle sites and terminal facilities.

Whenever we purchase new vehicles, we place particular emphasis on buying buses equipped with environment-friendly engines. It is in this spirit that we purchased 68 MAN buses in 2002, all fitted with EURO 3 engines, and 35 NEOPLAN buses with EURO 4 engines in 2005.

We currently see the so called “large tram project” as our top priority task, since the development and prioritisation of tramway traffic, a great deal could be done for the environment.

We are regular participants of the European Carfree Day, held on 22 September every year. The primary goal of the event is to emphasise the importance of environment protection, to raise public awareness and to educate children to be environment-conscious.
